Biography

Ms. Rhoads has been employed at Battelle, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory since 1975, and has 30 years of experience performing health risk assessments for radioactive and hazardous materials. Her current responsibilities include management of tasks and projects that evaluate radiation doses following routine or accidental release of radionuclides to the environment from nuclear facilities, as well as risk assessments for radioactive and mixed waste disposal sites. Her previous work contributed to nuclear waste management programs, including studies to assess the potential for microbial corrosion of overpack materials in a high-level waste repository, verification of a computer model for release and transport of radionuclides in soil, and health effects of radionuclides, metals, and particulate materials. Ms. Rhoads also provides National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) technical support to the U.S. Department of Energy Richland Operations Office. Ms. Rhoads has authored, or contributed to, over 90 journal articles, symposium proceedings, NEPA documents, and technical reports, as well as numerous presentations.
